What Is Walk-and-Talk Therapy?
Walk-and-talk therapy is counselling that takes place outdoors while walking at a gentle pace. Instead of sitting face-to-face in a therapy room, we walk side by side in green spaces around Basingstoke, Alton and North Hampshire.
For some men, this can make therapy feel less intense. Moving, looking ahead, and having natural pauses in conversation can help things feel a little easier to begin.
It is still counselling. The session is still confidential, focused on you, and shaped around what you want to talk about. The difference is the setting.
Why walking side by side can help
Many men find it hard to sit opposite someone and talk directly about what is going on. Walking side by side can take some of that pressure away.
You do not need to make constant eye contact. You do not need to have everything planned. We can walk, talk, pause, and let the conversation find its way.
Some people find that movement helps them think more clearly. Others simply prefer being outside rather than in a room. There is no right or wrong choice.
Private room or outdoors, your choice
Walk-and-talk therapy is one option, but it is not the only way to work with me.
If you prefer a private room, I also offer in-person counselling at The Grosvenor, Basing View, Basingstoke. Some people prefer the privacy and stillness of a room. Others prefer the space and movement of walking outdoors.
We can talk through both options during your free discovery call and choose the setting that feels right for you.
